Makini's unified API acts as a common denominator across all connected systems. We map each system's data structure to a standardized data model, exposing consistent endpoints regardless of the underlying platform. This means you write the same code to retrieve purchase orders from SAP, NetSuite, or Dynamics—the API calls and response formats are identical. You always get data in the same structure, making it easy to build consistent business logic. The unified approach eliminates the need to learn each system's unique API, manage multiple authentication methods, or handle varying data formats.
Makini monitors connection health continuously and provides multiple ways to detect reauthorization needs. The connection status endpoint returns the current state including whether reauthorization is required. Makini sends webhooks when connections enter a state requiring reauthorization, allowing proactive notification. API requests to a connection requiring reauthorization return specific error codes prompting reconnection. The Makini dashboard displays connection status across all customers. Best practice is to implement webhook listeners for connection status changes and proactively notify customers when reauthorization is needed, rather than waiting for operations to fail. Include clear instructions on how to reconnect in your notification.
The integration role must have the following essential permissions:
• Log in using OAuth 2.0 Access Tokens (Full level)
• REST Web Services (Full level)
Additionally, you should add specific permissions based on your integration needs, such as permissions for Transactions, Lists, Reports, or Custom Records.
You have two options:
• Option A: Upload the Makini public certificate (available in the Resources section of the guide)
• Option B: Generate your own self-signed certificate using OpenSSL and upload the public key to NetSuite
