Smart Inspect, also written SmartInspect, is a quality inspection platform for custodial, janitorial and environmental services (EVS) programs, developed in 2002 and maintained by the cleaning consultants at Core America. Colleges, K-12 districts, hospitals, building service contractors, property managers, transit agencies and government facilities use its mobile app to score inspections, even without Wi-Fi. Its data covers buildings and rooms, scored inspection items with time-stamped photos and notes, QSP quality scores, GPS inspection routes and Smart Tickets work orders. A CMMS or facility management product can pull Smart Tickets into its work queue through Makini's Unified API, including corrective action tickets raised automatically after a failed inspection, where the connection exposes them as work orders or work requests. Inspection scores and inspection items can be read where the connection returns them. A building service contractor's operations tool could then line up inspection results by building with the incentive or penalty thresholds in performance-based cleaning contracts. The customer's administrator signs in through Makini Link, embedded in the vendor's product or sent as a magic link, so their Smart Inspect credentials never pass through the vendor's application. Data then syncs on an interval set by the Makini plan, not in real time. Smart Inspect's website lists no public API, and its reports and data are shared by stakeholder role, so connect with an account that can see every building in scope and confirm with Makini what that connection returns.
Have any questions? We’re here to help You
Some editions of SmartInspect expose an API, but it is often limited, legacy, or inconsistent between versions, and many on-prem deployments have no usable API at all. Makini gives you one modern REST API for SmartInspect that lets you read and write SmartInspect data, even for legacy or on-prem instances. You build against Makini once instead of integrating with SmartInspect directly.
You integrate SmartInspect through Makini's Unified API. Authenticate once and Makini normalizes SmartInspect data into a single consistent schema you can read from and write to inside your product. The same connection reaches SmartInspect plus 2,000+ other ERP, WMS and CMMS systems, so you build one integration instead of one per system.
Through Makini you can read and write SmartInspect's core records as normalized, standardized resources, in both directions: pull data out of SmartInspect and push updates back in. Every field is mapped to a consistent Makini schema, so you work with the same object model across SmartInspect and every other connected system.
Days, not quarters. Because Makini already builds and maintains the SmartInspect connector, you do not reverse-engineer the integration yourself: you authenticate and start reading and writing SmartInspect data through the Unified API, typically within a few days. A SmartInspect integration built in-house usually takes months plus ongoing maintenance.
Yes. Makini connects to SmartInspect over encrypted connections on SOC 2 Type II certified infrastructure, and handles SmartInspect credentials for you so they are never exposed to your app. You authenticate once, and access runs through Makini's managed, auditable layer. The same security model applies across SmartInspect and every other connected system.
Makini owns the maintenance. When SmartInspect changes its API, versions, or endpoints, Makini updates the connector, and your integration keeps working with no changes on your side. You get a stable Unified API with webhooks, and SmartInspect upkeep stays off your roadmap.
