Dude Solutions was the original name of the maintenance software company from Cary, North Carolina, that became Brightly Software in 2022, was acquired by Siemens the same year and now operates as Siemens Asset Management Software. Its CMMS line, led by Asset Essentials and TheWorxHub, serves schools, local governments, healthcare, senior living and manufacturing sites. Asset Essentials is a cloud CMMS built around work orders, service requests, assets, preventive maintenance scheduled by calendar or meter readings, parts inventory with physical counts and kitting, and purchasing requisitions.
Where a connection exposes these records, the MCP lets a maintenance team ask in plain language instead of building reports. A facilities director asks which open work orders at one campus are past due and who they are assigned to. A technician pulls the work order history and meter readings of one boiler before a repair. A storeroom lead has the agent compare parts flagged as low stock with open requisitions. The agent can also turn a service request into a draft work order for a supervisor to review.
You sign in to your Asset Essentials account through Makini Link, then paste the MCP endpoint Makini issues into Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client, and get_connection_details shows which objects and fields that connection offers. Writes follow the account's user roles, so connect with a suitable role. Asset Essentials includes its open API in an optional integration suite, so confirm the subscription covers it before planning a rollout.

Dude Solutions CMMS lives on as Asset Essentials, now sold by Siemens Asset Management Software. Dude Solutions renamed itself Brightly Software in 2022, Siemens acquired Brightly the same year, and in July 2026 Brightly became Siemens Asset Management Software. If your team still says Dude Solutions or Brightly, the MCP connection goes to the same Asset Essentials account you sign in to today.
You connect Dude Solutions Asset Essentials to Claude or ChatGPT through Makini's MCP server: sign in to your Asset Essentials account through Makini Link, then paste the MCP endpoint Makini issues into your MCP client. Makini lists 120+ tools for this system, such as search_work_orders, search_work_requests and search_meter_readings, and get_connection_details shows which objects and fields your connection actually exposes.
Yes, Asset Essentials offers a Connector Tool and an open API, but its product datasheet places both in the Integration suite, an add-on with its own annual fee. Confirm that your subscription includes it before planning integration work. Your AI agent does not call that API itself: it talks to Makini's MCP endpoint, and Makini runs the connector to Asset Essentials.
Asset Essentials ships with default user roles such as Global Admin, Account Admin, Site Admin, Supervisor Lead, Maintenance Technician, Inventory Manager, Observer, Requester and Power Requester. Each role grants View, Edit, Create and Delete permissions per feature, and in Asset Essentials Enterprise a role applies globally, per region or per site. The Observer role gives site-level view-only access, which suits a read-only agent.
Every Asset Essentials account starts with default work order statuses, and only Asset Essentials Enterprise customers can add their own under Admin > Configurations > WO Statuses. Each custom status can be limited to one site or shared across all sites, marked Modifiable, and given allowed Next Statuses. Before an agent reports open backlog, have it list the statuses it finds and agree which ones count as open.
A job finished offline in the Asset Essentials mobile app stays open on the server until the technician syncs. Technicians can edit downloaded work orders and create new ones offline, then sync Work Orders, Failed Tasks and Assets separately once back online, with work orders synced before failed tasks. Until then, an AI agent connected through Makini reads the last state stored on the server.
An AI agent can write to Dude Solutions CMMS only if your connection exposes the write and the connecting role has Create or Edit rights for that feature. Makini's tool list includes create_work_order and create_inventory_adjustment, and Enterprise roles can also require approval for work orders. Start with read-only questions about backlog and parts, and keep inventory adjustments with the storeroom team, since they change physical counts.
Before connecting Dude Solutions CMMS, create a dedicated Asset Essentials login for the agent instead of reusing a person's account, and give it a role scoped to the sites it needs. In Asset Essentials Enterprise, a regional or global role lets one agent compare overdue PMs across campuses, while a site role limits it to one site. Check that every expected site appears in the first results.
