Infor M3 is the ERP from Infor for manufacturers and distributors in fashion, food and beverage, chemicals, distribution, industrial manufacturing and equipment. Infor delivers it as a multi-tenant cloud service on AWS. M3 covers customer orders, purchasing, manufacturing orders, product structures, warehouse and inventory management, maintenance work orders, quality and traceability, and finance across companies, divisions and currencies. Every function is a program with its own code, from Item. Open (MMS001) and Customer Order. Open (OIS100) to purchase orders in PPS200 and manufacturing orders in PMS100.
Where a connection exposes the relevant records, the Infor M3 MCP saves users from paging through M3 programs. A customer service rep asks which order lines for one customer have not yet reached status 33, allocated. A buyer reviews open purchase order lines from one supplier whose confirmed delivery date has slipped. A planner checks on-hand balances in one warehouse against the components of a manufacturing order before release. The agent can also prepare a customer order in preliminary status 10 for a person to finalize.
You sign in to M3 through Makini Link, then paste the MCP endpoint Makini issues into Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client, and get_connection_details shows which objects and fields that connection offers. M3 applies normal security to API calls, checking function authorization and the user's company, division, facility and warehouse, so use a dedicated, narrowly authorized user. For M3 installed on premises, IT can allow Makini's fixed IP addresses through the firewall or set up a VPN.

Yes, Infor M3 has more than 6,000 API transactions that expose a large part of its business logic, reached as REST through the ION API Gateway with OAuth 2. Their metadata is kept in programs such as MRS001. For larger data volumes and synchronization, Infor recommends the Infor Data Lake. An MCP agent does not call these itself: Makini's connector handles the M3 side.
Yes, Infor M3 grew out of Movex, the ERP from the Swedish company Intentia, which was renamed Lawson M3 after Intentia merged with Lawson Software in 2006. Infor acquired Lawson in 2011. Today Infor delivers M3 as a multi-tenant cloud service, while Infor still publishes documentation for on-premises M3 13.4 installations.
An Infor M3 customer order header shows a lowest and a highest status taken from its lines and updated after each line activity. On the header, 00 means entry in progress, 05 a quotation, 10 a preliminary order, 20 a final released order whose lines move on through the flow, and 90 a deleted order. Ask the agent for line statuses when chasing late deliveries.
An Infor M3 purchase order usually gets status 15 when entered, 12 when it needs authorization, and 20 once the purchase order document is printed, with higher values as goods receipt progresses. A buyer can ask the agent for orders still at 12 awaiting approval, or for lines from one supplier past their confirmed delivery date, where the connection exposes those fields.
You connect Infor M3 to Claude or ChatGPT by authorizing your M3 environment in Makini Link and pasting the MCP endpoint Makini issues into the client, or into Cursor or another MCP client. Then call get_connection_details to see which objects and fields the connection exposes. For M3 on your own servers, IT can allow Makini's fixed IP addresses or set up a VPN.
Use a dedicated Infor M3 user rather than a person's login, authorized only for the programs, companies, divisions, facilities and warehouses the use case needs, since M3 checks these on API calls. In CloudSuite, decide whether the agent should reach your TST tenant before PRD, so trial orders never land in production. Also agree who reviews the agent's activity.
Only where your Infor M3 connection and user rights allow it: Makini's MCP tool list includes create_sales_order and create_purchase_order, but a write succeeds only if the connection exposes it and the M3 user is authorized for the programs involved. A sensible pattern is for the agent to prepare a customer order at preliminary status 10, which a person then approves and releases.
Infor M3 separates data by company and division, each with its own facilities and warehouses, and orders may be in different currencies, so the same item number can show different stock or prices in each. One agent can work across them only within the user's authorization. Ask it to name the company and division behind each figure and keep currencies apart before totaling.
