Makini is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and undergoes penetration testing twice annually. We use industry-standard encryption protocols including TLS 1.2+ for data in transit and AES-256 for data at rest. Customer credentials are encrypted using secure key management practices. Our infrastructure follows security best practices including network segmentation, access controls, and regular security audits. For highly regulated industries or customers with strict compliance requirements, we offer self-hosted deployment options that keep all data within your infrastructure. We've successfully met security requirements for enterprises including financial institutions and government contractors.
The RATE_LIMIT_EXCEEDED error indicates you've exceeded the API rate limit for the connection or account. Rate limits are typically set per connection and per time window (usually per minute). When you hit a rate limit, the response includes a Retry-After header indicating when you can retry the request. Implement exponential backoff in your retry logic to avoid immediately hitting the limit again. If you consistently hit rate limits, review your API usage patterns—you may be making unnecessary requests, polling too frequently, or could benefit from webhook-based synchronization. For legitimate high-volume needs, contact us to discuss increasing your rate limits.
Makini monitors connection health continuously and provides multiple ways to detect reauthorization needs. The connection status endpoint returns the current state including whether reauthorization is required. Makini sends webhooks when connections enter a state requiring reauthorization, allowing proactive notification. API requests to a connection requiring reauthorization return specific error codes prompting reconnection. The Makini dashboard displays connection status across all customers. Best practice is to implement webhook listeners for connection status changes and proactively notify customers when reauthorization is needed, rather than waiting for operations to fail. Include clear instructions on how to reconnect in your notification.
Makini provides tiered support plans. Standard support includes email support with business hours response times, access to documentation and knowledge base, and webhook notifications for issues. Extended support adds direct access to our engineering team, faster response times including after-hours support for critical issues, proactive monitoring and recommendations, and assistance with custom development. Enterprise support includes dedicated support contacts, participation in architecture planning, quarterly business reviews, and priority feature requests. All plans include access to our API documentation, authentication guides, and community resources. Support hours can be added to any plan based on your anticipated needs.
