500-level errors indicate issues on Makini's side or with the connected system. These are typically temporary and retrying the request after a brief delay often succeeds. Implement exponential backoff for retries—wait a few seconds, then progressively longer intervals. If errors persist beyond a few retries, check the Makini status page for service disruptions. The error may also stem from the connected system experiencing issues rather than Makini itself. For persistent 500 errors, contact support with the request ID from the error response. Include details about when the error started, which operations are affected, and which connections are impacted. Our support team can quickly identify whether the issue is systemic or connection-specific.
Makini provides sandbox connections for testing without affecting production systems. Sandbox connections include sample data representing common scenarios: standard purchase orders, orders with custom fields, orders in various states (draft, approved, completed), and error cases like invalid vendors or out-of-stock items. Sandbox data is read-only for safety—write operations return success responses without modifying data. This allows thorough testing of your integration logic without risk. For testing with specific systems, we recommend using dedicated test instances of the actual systems (like SAP sandbox environments) connected through Makini, which provides the most realistic testing experience.
Makini provides webhook testing tools in the dashboard where you can trigger test webhook deliveries to verify your endpoint configuration. Test webhooks use sample payloads matching actual event structures. Verify your endpoint receives the webhook, validates the signature correctly, and responds with a 200 status code within 10 seconds. Test webhook retries by having your endpoint return error codes or timeout, then verify Makini retries as expected. Test duplicate handling by processing the same webhook multiple times. For local development, use tools like ngrok to expose your local endpoint for webhook testing. The webhook logs in the Makini dashboard show delivery attempts, response codes, and timing, helping debug delivery issues.
